Automechanika Tashkent 2025. Automotive business from within: experience, insights and forecasts
24.10.2025
On October 22, 2025, at the Central Asian Expo Uzbekistan (CAEx) exhibition center, an expert panel titled “Automotive Business from Within: Experience, Insights, and Forecasts” was held as part of the international exhibition Automechanika Tashkent 2025. The event was organized with the support of the Automotive Business Association of Uzbekistan (ABA Uzbekistan).
The session brought together leading representatives of the automotive industry, analysts, and practitioners to discuss the current state and development prospects of the automotive business in Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region. The discussion focused on issues such as production localization, the development of dealer networks, transformation of the aftersales market, and adaptation to new technological trends.
Participants of the expert panel included:
Sh.F. Yusupov, Chairman of the Automotive Business Association of Uzbekistan (ABA Uzbekistan)
I.V. Shevchenko, Head of the Analytical Department at the Automotive Business Association of Kazakhstan (AKAB)
A.V. Istomin, Director for Dealer Network Development
A.V. Kurenkov, Commercial Director of ADM Global Group
K.O. Nagiyev, Owner and Managing Director of DAS AUTO
In his speech, Shukhrat Fattakhovich Yusupov, Chairman of ABA Uzbekistan, emphasized that the country's automotive market is undergoing an important stage of transformation - where growth rates are combined with the need for systemic changes in business approaches and customer interaction.
“Today, it is not enough just to manufacture cars - it is essential to build a full-fledged ecosystem around them: from component localization and the development of service infrastructure to the introduction of modern technologies and the formation of a new service culture.
The automotive business is becoming part of a broader economic system, and success now directly depends on the ability to unite the efforts of manufacturers, distributors, and the state.
We are witnessing a dynamic increase in competition within the industry. Previously, only two manufacturers operated in Uzbekistan - UzAuto and SamAuto, both part of the same structure - but today, their number has grown to six: UzAuto Motors, ADM Jizzakh, Asaka Motors International, BYD Uzbekistan Factory, Jizzakh Automobile Plant, and SAZ.
In my view, competition itself is the main driver of industry development,” - emphasized Shukhrat Yusupov.
Experts exchanged views on market development prospects, discussed the challenges facing the sector, and explored ways to strengthen interregional cooperation.
The panel became a platform for open professional dialogue and experience sharing among automotive industry participants from different countries.
Aleksey Kurenkov noted:
“In 2022, there were only eight official distributors in the market, but by 2025, their number had grown to 23 - almost a threefold increase in three years.
This is not a reason for concern, but a sign of market maturity and attractiveness.
Competition makes us stronger, pushes us to stay closer to the customer, and turns service from a formality into a philosophy.
Today, success belongs to those who truly listen to their consumers.”
The event was organized by the Automotive Business Association of Uzbekistan (ABA Uzbekistan) - an independent, non-profit organization that unites key market players and promotes the development of the automotive industry, improvement of service standards, and strengthening of business relations within the sector.
The panel once again confirmed the industry's commitment to openness, joint development, and the establishment of long-term partnerships that strengthen Uzbekistan's position as one of the regional centers of the automotive business in Central Asia.
