ABA Uzbekistan: 2025 results, key trends and prospects for the automotive industry in 2026

On 23 January, the Automotive Business Association of Uzbekistan (ABA Uzbekistan) held an industry event dedicated to the results of 2025 and discussion of the future of the country's automotive market. The meeting brought together representatives of car manufacturers, dealers, partners of the Association, as well as relevant media and automotive industry experts.

The past year has been a period of active work for ABA Uzbekistan on practical issues that directly affect the market. The association initiated proposals to improve the procedure for transactions with motor vehicles, promotes the TRADE-PULL programme for the disposal of old cars, and participates in the development of environmental initiatives, including the TOZA HAVO project. At the same time, cooperation was established with international partners in China, the CIS countries and Europe, with the aim of studying and adapting their experience for implementation in practice.

Shukhrat Yusupov, Chairman of the Association, delivered the opening remarks at the event, outlining the main challenges facing the automotive industry today:

"Today, the automotive industry worldwide is operating in conditions of some unpredictability and rapidly changing business conditions. We are facing global economic and political risks, sanctions and tariff wars, which directly affect supply chains and investment decisions. At the same time, the level of car lending is growing, creating additional risks for the banking system. These factors require the industry to make balanced but immediate decisions, engage in regular dialogue and take joint action between the state and business," he noted.

As part of the analytical section, BCG experts identified key trends that will shape the Uzbekistan automotive market in the coming years. These include steady growth in demand for electric vehicles, driven by an expansion of the model range and government support measures; a shift in consumer preferences towards crossovers as the most versatile segment; and an aggressive development strategy by Chinese automakers, including price competition, active localisation, and rapid product line updates. Representatives of Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) shared their approaches to improving business efficiency as part of Uzbekistan's accession to the BTO for 2026-2028.

The awards ceremony was a special event — the first official recognition of achievements in the country's automotive industry. Awards were presented in key categories: Best Auto Blogger, Best Auto Publication, Reliable Partner, Sales Leader, and Best Industry Event.

The event became an informal but meaningful platform for exchanging opinions and strengthening relationships between industry players. Participants noted that such meetings allow not only to summarise results, but also to form a common vision for the further development of the automotive industry in Uzbekistan in the foreseeable future.
